Plain English, because you should actually be able to read this.

TeenMoney.org ("TeenMoney," "we," "us") publishes free money guides for teenagers. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it the way we write everything else here, so you can understand it without a lawyer.
TeenMoney.org is intended for people aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not sign up for our newsletter or send us your email address.
When you sign up, we ask for three things:
We do not ask for your name, your exact age, your address, your phone number, your school, or anything about your finances. Please do not send us any of that.
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which guides they read, and roughly where in the world they are. This tells us which articles are worth writing more of. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, your browser and device type, the pages you view, and how you arrived at our site. It does not tell us who you are by name.
You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google's official opt-out browser add-on. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
We use your email address to send you the weekly TeenMoney newsletter and nothing else. We use the teen/parent/teacher answer to decide what to write about. We use analytics data to improve the site.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to data brokers. We do not send you other companies' emails.
We use a small number of outside services to run this site. They only get what they need to do their job:
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, for example in response to a valid court order.
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend or what we tell you about a product. When an article contains affiliate links, we say so in the article. If our newsletter contains them, we say so in the newsletter.
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you are out, permanently, no questions. You can also email us at the address below and we will remove you by hand.
We use confirmed opt-in, which means that after you sign up we send you one email asking you to confirm. If you do not click the link in that email, you never get added to the list. This exists so nobody can sign you up without your knowledge.
This is important enough to say twice. TeenMoney.org is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If we find out that someone under 13 has given us their email address, we delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child under 13 has signed up, email us at the address below and we will delete their information promptly. You do not need to explain yourself or prove anything to us beyond telling us the email address.
We keep your email address for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, Kit keeps a record that you unsubscribed, which is how we make sure we do not accidentally email you again. If you want your information deleted entirely rather than just unsubscribed, email us and we will do that.
Analytics data is retained according to Google's default retention settings.
Wherever you live, you can email us to:
If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you these rights formally, plus the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing for you to opt out of on that front. If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you similar rights. Either way, the answer is the same: email us and we will do it.
We do not run our own database or store your email address on our own servers. It lives with Kit, who handle security for it. This site itself is static, which means there is no login, no account, and no password for anyone to steal.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If we change something significant, such as starting to collect something new, we will say so in the newsletter rather than quietly editing this page.
Questions about privacy, or want your information deleted? Email privacy@teenmoney.org and a human will read it.
